While attending President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January to support her husband, John Legend, as he performed for the Celebrating America special, Chrissy Teigen had an awkward run-in with Katy Perry. Like Legend, Perry was one of the performers that evening. Perry closed out the special with a performance of her hit song ‘Firework’ as actual fireworks went off behind her.
“I remember I was so scared because we ran into Katy Perry after, and I always say dumb things,” Chrissy told Jimmy Fallon during a virtual appearance on The Tonight Show. “I always get so nervous, and I say a faux pas, and then I hadn’t seen Katy for so long.”

Teigen told Perry she “typically hate[s] fireworks, but that was like amazing, that was beautiful.’” Unfortunately, though, Teigen thinks Perry “heard that I said I hate ‘Firework,’ like the song.”

After realizing her mistake, Teigen said she “wanted to die, I felt so bad. ‘No, no, no, not ‘Firework.’ I always do that.”
