A fews weeks after dropping his latest single “Happy Endings,” featuring iann dior and UPSAHL, Mike Shinoda has shared its music video. The clip shows all three artists soaking up the Los Angeles rays while lamenting about “being stuck inside” for the past year and includes animation hand drawn by Shinoda.

“The thing about that song is that I felt like I had really funneled a lot all of that anxious, negative energy into it. And did it in a kind of playful way. Which felt like the right tone to me,” the Linkin Park cofounder explained to Input Magazine upon the song’s release. “So was it that bad of a year? I mean, worse for some other people than for me. But I don’t like being stuck inside.”

Shinoda debuted the song as 10 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and gifted a signed print of its album art to the holders.

For those unfamiliar with NFTs, they’re a type cryptocurrency that holds assets like art, tickets, and music instead of money. They operate on a publicly accessible and transparent network called a blockchain, which means anyone can see the details of the transaction. Computers involved in the transactions become part of the network, which continuously updates and can’t be hacked. The value of NFTs is subjective and fluctuates (think stocks).

Last week, Kings of Leon became the first band ever to release a whole album in this format and hope it will inspire other artists to do the same.
